About Me
Hi and welcome to my site!
My names Krista. I’m a Senior at UNE studying Nursing. A little about myself, I’m from Londonderry, New Hampshire. I live with my mom, dad, brother, and dog Truro. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, watch some of my favorite tv shows like the Amazing Race or movies, and exercise.
I’ve had some pretty cool experiences growing up, to name one of them, I’ve danced in Disney World five times. My favorite vacation spots are Cape Cod, Disney World, or California. Every summer since I was an infant my family has gone to Cape Cod, we spend time in the town of Truro right above Provincetown. Smelling the fresh salty air, wandering through the streets of Ptown, and discovering new restaurants and shops are some of the highlights of each trip. My header picture is actually a picture of the beach in Truro, Ma.
Nursing has always been something I’ve been interested in. The compassion and connection that nurses show and make with their patients really stood out to me especially as a patient myself but also an observer. I’m a people person and can talk for hours. I knew Nursing was for me because I want to be that person to make a positive impact in someone’s life. Throughout my life, I’ve encountered experiences within the medical field. I’ve shadowed my uncle who is an orthopedic surgeon, I’ve also shadowed in labor and delivery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Over the summer, I work for my town as a camp counselor. Working with kids has added to my interest in working as a Pediatrics nurse. My last summer at the camp (since 2020 summer camp was canceled due to Covid-19), 2019, a young girl fell off the monkey bars and broke her arm. She would’ve gone to the hospital in the ambulance by herself because her mom had to go pick up her dad at work and I knew she shouldn’t be alone. Hospitals are a scary place for the pediatric population, so I went to the hospital with her and was her familiar person until her family arrived. My experiences and personality help assist my decision that I want to be a nurse. Especially in 2020, nurses are truly heroes and I can’t wait to be in the field providing my care and skills to those who need it.
