The Revision Process and How my Essay Changed

I’m about to turn in my final draft of my Happiness essay. I personally thought this essay was easy to write because the message of happiness was very clear by all of the authors. The idea of happiness is much more complex than many people believe it to be. Happiness can be found in so many little and big things. To write our papers we had to mesh our ideas with those of the authors and focus on one idea that people can use to live a happy life. There are many drafts that go into a piece of work before the final draft is complete. I think I’ve had close to 5 separate papers revised on different things each time. When editing a peers paper or your own it is really key to look for Global changes that can be made. Global comments can be made about an idea or a suggestion that engages a writer’s idea on their thesis or claims in their paragraph, evidence regarding quote use and explanations of evidence, and organizing the structure of the paper. There are a few Global changes that stood out to me in my first draft to final copy. The first was an idea that I should mention the specific title of the authors. Another change that represents evidence is that I should move my quote to a block quote because it is over a few lines long. The final change I’m going to mention is organization, I shouldn’t reference a figure in my essay if I don’t have the picture to support it, which makes sense. These are just some of the many changes that I made from my first draft to my final draft. Any changes that you make, big or small make a huge impact on your paper. My final draft is looking so much better thanks to peer editors comments and a different perspective of my own. There’s a better flow, better grammar, and the overall idea is structured better.
