Before this paper fully comes together, I have to anticipate how it will go. I anticipate that this team project, from topic choice to actually writing the final paper will go really well. I’m confident in my partner and I. We are both organized and hard workers. This paper will be accomplished with team-work, good time management, and communication. The communication plan that my partner and I have is to be open with each other and first find out each other’s schedule to then be able to organize when we are going to get things done and how much each week. I will hold myself accountable by setting up a schedule and managing my time wisely in order to get everything done. We will hold each other accountable by creating a schedule of the weekly assignments due and separating them between us two equally or what we both feel we can handle each week. We’ll talk frequently and be honest and open about the work we have completed and are completing each week. As well as, checking in on each other to make sure the workload for both is fair and we’re both handling it okay. If one of us needs to help the other by adding something extra to the weekly work, then that’s when communication comes in and knowing that helping each other when needed is part of being a team. If there is an issue of conflict management, my plan will be to just be open and communicate with my partner and see why for example they aren’t fully participating or not doing the work we agreed on and from there maybe construct a new plan and division of work. The benefits of collaborating as a team are learning how to strategize and co-write a paper with another friend who is studying to be in the same field. We can take the skills we learn from researching, forming the paper, and writing it together to our future practice. Working together will also contribute to our learning of working with other team members in our future. Some barriers I might anticipate in completing the project as a team are our different schedules, extracurricular activities and other courses workload. As I mentioned, as a positive when working with a team member on a paper like this it will be useful in my future nursing practice to take the skills of teamwork I’ll be learning now, communication, and organization and apply that to my future nursing practice.
