Presenting Change

To be able to disseminate our findings on The Benefits of Proning with my group was a great experience. The experience brought together by great team collaboration, communication, organization, and hardworking members is what made the dissemination of our findings go so smoothly and neatly. We are still awaiting feedback from our audience. Our projects have been printed and are soon to be delivered to the unit. I know we will receive great feedback on our work. I believe this topic is so relevant and would be beneficial as a quick refresher for those who’ve proned patients but also for those who want to know more about proning patients and the benefits.

I learned a lot from this team project. Some things I learned were based on teamwork, communication, team ethic, different work styles and mainly working with a group with all different schedules. Since we are all off doing Preceptorship, it taught us as a group the real importance of communication and work ethic because we are all working different hours and that could include days or nights. I work nights and I would work on the project during the day prior to my shift and those who work during the day would work on the project post shift or on days off. This work ethic and determination was how we got our project done and that also had to do with communication. Our group had great communication that allowed us to agree on a topic, an infographic, and the information we provided. We all communicated on what needed to be done and who was going to do what, but we didn’t leave it at that, we then all went into the infographic and would edit/add to each other’s work. I believe that this is a great strategy to bring into our future nursing practice; working together doesn’t mean we all are set to one thing, it means we all add something but then build off each other’s work to make it as one. Working well in a team setting, good communication, and strategy will be helpful for all of us to bring into our future nursing practice.

To my audience and future employers that may read this, what I want you to know is that working as a team to complete a project doesn’t take just one person to dictate how the process will go; it takes a team. I contribute to a team in every aspect because I’m hard working, organized, determined, approachable, I listen, and I take feedback well and give feedback but most importantly I focus on the goal at hand and contribute to the team. I will contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives as a nurse resulting from working as a team because I know there is a goal at hand and that is the most important motivating factor. I believe that contributing to quality improvement and evidence-based practice is how we learn, how we teach future learners, and how we contribute to practice and safe patient care. The end goal is for the patient and the best care practices they can receive.

Our team process was to work together in a way that everyone could contribute, be heard, do their part, and stay on track to get the work done with all our hectic schedules. We each contributed equally, gave great feedback, had great ideas, found great information, and brought together a great dissemination project. Our group truly shows that hard work and teamwork can create something great, something for others to learn from. I discovered that I am a team member that is organized, accepts all feedback, wants to give feedback, encourages others, helps others when they need it, stays focused, gets the work done, and love to work with others. I discover the more times I work in a team that I contribute a lot to a team and I’m a great team member.

  1. I thought that this project was well thought out and the presentation of the findings was visually appealing. Proning patients has grown in popularity with the pandemic, so knowing how to do such procedure safely and effectively is very important.

  2. I thought that your topic was great and very relevant to what is going on in healthcare right now. I really liked how in the background there was information on what proning is, how it is done, and the benefits to it. I think this was nice to include that introduction information. Then in the findings section I really liked the stats that were included. I think that it helped to put in perspective how beneficial proning is and helped to support the claim that was being made. Overall, I think the project proposal was very well done and gave great information on proning and what was being achieved. I think that the handout was nicely done visually! There was a lot of great information and I liked how there was a quote at the beginning. There was step-by-step information on how to prone a patient, which was great and reasons why proning may not be used for some patients. Overall, I think that this project was nicely executed!

  3. Great job on this Krista! First, I love the quote at the top of the poster. I like your team’s approach to assessing knowledge before and after reading the poster. This poster is eye-catching, easy to read, and full of great information. It always important to assess pros and cons of interventions and it is great that your group included that in this project. I learned a lot just from reading your poster, and I am sure you and your group gained a lot of knew knowledge from researching this topic.

  4. I think your flyer was really educational, eye catching, and visually appealing. It is well organized and provides good information. The QR code to asses knowledge was a great way to receive feedback. I think that adding the quote about education was a good touch as well.

  5. Great job! I really like how your group aims to assess the knowledge on proning of the reader of the flyer before and after they viewed your infographic. The material on your infographic was in depth enough to give the viewer a really good idea on how to prone a patient and when it is indicated etc, but not so wordy that you lose interest or make the material hard to understand. Your flyer is also very visually appealing and sends a good message with your quote.

  6. Great job to you and your team Krista! Your infographic is amazing visually and content-wise. The QR code to the survey was a fantastic idea! Your topic is relevant to healthcare right now and providing any insight on how to help patient’s suffering from COVID goes a long way. Your team’s researach and your eportfolio posts were clear, fiilled with detail, and were very easy to follow. It’s also great how you learned about working in such a large group and you were able to learn a lot about yourself in the process! Nice job!
