Prepare for Licensure (ATI Med-Surg CAT)
I think what went well for this adaptive quiz was the mindset I had while taking this quiz. I was focused on this quiz as if I was taking the NCLEX and I was preparing myself by using my SMART goals. These goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. Since I prepared to take the quiz, took the quiz, remediated, and submitted the remediations I believe I achieved my SMART goals. To me, that is another analysis of what went well. There was also a lot that didn’t go well. I was so focused on the NCLEX mindset and the time limit per question while taking the quiz. Since I was thinking too much about how long I was taking on a question, that interfered with my thought process and my actual understanding of what the question was asking. When I was remediating, there were many questions I saw that I would have gotten them right if I didn’t read them too fast or skim through the answers rather than take my time. I either missed key words, didn’t read the options fully, or think deeply enough. If I had done that, I would have been more successful. I know my remediations have been a nice refresher to some information that I forgot, others I didn’t know, and many that I did know. Going forward I will use my NCLEX prep book and do some Med-Surg practice questions to help keep the information fresh in my mind and aide in my learning on some information I need a refresher on. For my next assessments, I will take my time on each question and read through them in their entirety. I will take a pause and process what I read and then look at the responses to pick out the best answer. Most importantly, I will be more confident in my answers since I’ll be taking my time and I’ll be more relaxed that I have more time for each question than I originally thought.

It is hard to judge time – a minute is a lot longer than we realize! Try using a timer while taking the test to help you gauge your response time.
