Prepare for Licensure (ATI OB CAT)

This adaptive quiz felt a lot better than the previous two. Even though I had more remediations to do and I completed more questions, I felt really confident in the material for this adaptive quiz. I’m currently finishing up the first part of my maternal child health class focusing on Maternity and the care of the newborn. I think having the information so fresh in my mind and playing out as I got to take this adaptive quiz really helped and aided in my ability to do well. Another positive for this adaptive quiz is I am really interested and enjoy this material. It’s not that I don’t enjoy medsurg material, but I am drawn to and fascinated by the maternal role, the human body during pregnancy, and the growth and development of the newborn. This is a specialty I see myself working in, and for that reason I find answering questions about the material interesting and aiding in my learning.

Continuing with my test taking mindset from my previous adaptive quiz helped again with this adaptive quiz. I again, would time myself for each question. Timing myself for each question allows me to stay on track, and test take as if I am sitting at my computer taking the NCLEX that has timed questions. By timing myself I was keeping up with my SMART goals. These goals are specific such as focusing on the adaptive quiz as if this is the NCLEX, measurable in the sense that this quiz needs to take some time out of my day for my full focus, attainable because I am finishing these adaptive quizzes and understanding the material, relevant because I am currently in maternity class learning the material, and time-bound because I am timing myself while I take each question. I achieved my SMART goals. One thing I will try differently going forward is taking small frequent breaks. I think if I do a few questions and feel myself losing focus I will hit pause take a walk, get some water, maybe a snack then return to my computer. I will continue to take small quick breaks to look away from my computer screen and regain my focus. I believe with this new suggestion I will be more successful on the next adaptative quiz. I will carry this experience going forward and the new suggestion about taking breaks for my next adaptive quiz. I believe this will help with my continued success because the next adaptive quiz is another nursing specialty I am excited about.
